(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner says he wants to focus this year on the places where Illinois lawmakers agree. Maybe that’s why his State of the State speech yesterday was less than 40 minutes long. The governor breezed through a laundry list of his accomplishments yesterday before challenging lawmakers to sign new ethics laws and focus on creating jobs. Lawmakers were underwhelmed with the speech. Democratic House Speaker Mike Madigan said perhaps the governor should go back to pretending that he is not in charge.
