(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is getting what he wants, without a battle in the state legislature. The governor on Friday announced an agreement that will expand the state’s tax credit scholarship program. Rauner had changed follow-up legislation to the state’s new school funding formula to shoe-horn in the expansion, but the agreement means that move is unnecessary. But there are some lawmakers who still don’t want to vote for the follow-up legislation. That’s expected to be a point of contention when lawmakers return to the statehouse this week.
