(Chicago, IL) — One of the Democrats running for governor in Illinois says the mayor of Chicago may be trying to push some black families out of the city. Chris Kennedy yesterday said Mayor Rahm Emanuel is leading a “strategic gentrification plan.” Kennedy said he thinks that some black families are being pushed out of Chicago as a pattern of disinvestment. Emanuel’s office not only denied the claim but said Kennedy’s comments are divisive.
