(Chicago, IL) — The county assessor’s office is the hot place to be this week for many Illinois taxpayers. A number of counties across the state yesterday said that taxpayers flocked to the county tax office to pay their 2018 property taxes early. A change in the federal tax reform package caps the deduction for local and state taxes at ten-thousand-dollars. Some homeowners in and around Chicago in particular, say the change could cost them thousands of extra dollars.
