(Springfield, IL) — The only thing that may be keeping Illinois out of the bottom five worst ran states in America is that the state doesn’t suffer from crushing poverty. A new report from 24/7 Wall Street released over the weekend ranks Illinois as the 43rd worst run state in America. Illinois gets low marks for its high unemployment and third worst pension system. But Illinois ranks in the middle of the pack when it comes to poverty. All but one of the five worst-run states have much worse poverty rates.
