(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers are reacting quickly to allegations that at Chicago state Senator harassed a statehouse advocate. State Senator Ira Silverstein yesterday lost his leadership spot in the Senate. A woman who worked with him accused him of improper behavior. The focus on the culture of harassment at the Capitol is also pushing lawmakers to hire an Inspector General. That post could be filled by the end of next week.
