(Flushing, NY) — The Mets have found their new manager. New York general manager Sandy Alderson has hired Mickey Callaway to replace Terry Collins in the dugout. Callaway is the 21st manager in franchise history. He served as the Indians’ pitching coach the last five seasons. The Metropolitans finished a disappointing 70-and-92 this season.

(St. Louis, MO) — Two familiar names and former Cardinals players will be joining the coaching staff of Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. Jose Oquendo is returning to the club as third-base coach, while fan favorite Willie McGee is also coming on board in an unnamed capacity. Mike Shildt will move from third-base and quality control coach to the role of bench coach.

(Indianapolis, IN) — Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is apologizing to his teammates for criticizing the offensive line after Sunday’s 27-0 home loss to Jacksonville. Hilton called out the offensive line after the game, saying they have to play better after allowing 10 sacks to the Jaguars. The Colts were shutout for the first time since 2003, and fell to 2-and-5 overall.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Eagles sit atop the NFL all by themselves. Carson Wentz threw four touchdown passes as Philadelphia took down the Redskins 34-24 on “Monday Night Football” at Lincoln Financial Field. Philly has the best record in the league at 6-and-1. The Rams, Vikings, Chiefs, Steelers and Patriots are all 5-and-2. Washington fell to 3-and-3.

(Berea, OH) — The Browns are still winless and now have to finish the season without their rock. Cleveland’s starting left tackle Joe Thomas is done for the season due to a torn triceps. He suffered the injury during Sunday’s loss to the Titans in overtime. Thomas has played 10,363 consecutive plays and never missed a snap in his career prior to the injury.

(Phoenix, AZ) — The Suns’ dysfunction is churning on multiple fronts. Star point guard Eric Bledsoe was sent home from the team and it’s expected he has played his final game for Phoenix. The Suns also fired head coach Earl Watson and replaced him with interim manager Jay Triano. The Suns won their first game of the season under Triano 117-115 over the Kings at home last night to improve to 1-and-3.
