(Cincinnati, OH) — Dexter Fowler came through to lift the Cardinals to a 10-inning. 8-7 win over the Reds in the opener of a three-game series at Great American Ball Park. Fowler tied the game with a solo homer in the eighth and put St. Louis ahead on an RBI double in the 10th. He finished with three hits and three runs scored. Reliever Juan Nicasio came away with the win despite giving up a run.

(Bronx, NY) — The Yankees are pulling away in the race for the top AL wild card spot. Brett Gardner had three hits and two RBI as New York knocked off the Twins, 5-2, in the Bronx. The Yanks have won nine-of-11 to open up a six-game lead on Minnesota for the top spot.

(Dallas, TX) — The Blues suffered a 5-3 loss to the Stars in their preseason opener in Dallas. St. Louis allowed three unanswered goals in the third period. It was the first of eight exhibition games in all for St. Louis. The Blues play their preseason home opener tonight against the Blue Jackets.
