Martinez struck out 12 while allowing just three singles and three walks to improve to 11-and-10. Yadier Molina provided the offense with a two-run single in the fourth. St. Louis has won four of its last five games.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — Jake Arrieta left in the third inning with a hamstring strain and the Cubs were crushed by the Pirates 12-0 in Pittsburgh. The Cubs lead the Brewers by three-and-a-half games in the NL Central.

No player has ever hit five home runs in a single contest.

The Volunteers rallied from a 28-14 deficit in the fourth quarter and pulled out a 42-41, double-overtime win over Georgia Tech. The Vols stopped the Yellow Jackets on a two-point conversion attempt on the game’s final play to seal the victory.

(Indianapolis, IN) — Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will miss Sunday’s season opener against the Rams in Los Angeles. Colts general manager Chris Ballard said yesterday that Luck is still “week to week” as he continues to recover from offseason shoulder surgery. Seven-year veteran Scott Tolzien will get the start for the Colts. He’s appeared in nine career games, including three with Indy last year.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is officially under contract after holding out the entire preseason. Bell signed his one-year franchise tender worth 12.12-million-dollars on Monday. The 25-year-old Bell ran for 1,268 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games last season.

(Norton, MA) — Justin Thomas is celebrating his fifth win of the season. Thomas erased a two-shot deficit over the final nine holes to win the Dell Technologies Championship at TPC Boston.
