(Cleveland, OH) — Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is dealing with a sprained ankle. Beckham was hurt after taking a low hit during Monday night’s 10-6 preseason loss to the Browns. X-rays came back negative. Meanwhile, fellow wide receiver Brandon Marshall also needed X-rays for a shoulder injury.

(Cleveland, OH) — Protests during the national anthem in the NFL continue. Eleven members of the Browns took a knee during the anthem before last night’s game against the Giants. Browns tight end Seth DeValve became the first white player to kneel since the protests began last season.

(Englewood, CO) — The Broncos are naming Trevor Siemian their starting quarterback for the regular season. Siemian started 14 games for the Broncos last year and threw for 3,401 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Siemian was chosen over second-year signal-caller Paxton Lynch.

(Chicago, IL) — The White Sox split a doubleheader with the Twins on the Southside. After notching a 7-6 win in the opener, Chicago was clobbered 10-2 in the nightcap. Yolmer Sanchez launched a three-run homer and finished with four RBI in the win. Nicky Delmonico and Adam Engel hit solo homers in the loss.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals open up a six-game homestand tonight with the first of three against the San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium. The Cards enter the night three-and-a-half games behind the Cubs for first in the NL Central. They are also four-and-a-half behind Arizona for the second NL Wild Card spot. Lance Lynn will get the start opposite Padres lefty Clayton Richard.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Cubs begin a six-game road trip tonight in Cincinnati against the Reds. The Northsiders will also visit Philadelphia this weekend. The Cubs enter the night two-games ahead of the Brewers for first place in the NL Central. John Lackey will be on the bump tonight. The Reds will counter with right-hander Homer Bailey.
