(Springfield, IL) — About half of Illinois’ school superintendents are demanding a state budget by the end of May. The group, 388 of them, yesterday said schools in Illinois cannot survive another year without all of their state aid. Illinois schools have seen more per-student money over the past few years, but the state government has short-changed them millions of dollars for things like school buses and special education.
