(Springfield, IL) — There’s some worry up and down Route 66 in Illinois. Supporters say they expect Congress to end a program that’s pumped millions of dollars into projects along the road. Landmarks Illinois’ Frank Butterfield says without federal help, a lot of little towns along Route 66 won’t be able to save their old landmarks. Butterfield says that will be a huge loss, with the 100th Anniversary of Route 66 coming up in 2026.
