(Springfield, IL) — An ex-Lincoln Land Community College employee faces prison time after pleading guilty to a scheme that defrauded the college out of nearly 700-thousand dollars. John Martinez entered the plea last week in federal court, agreeing to pay the money he stole from LLCC while he worked as a telecommunications administrator at the school. Prosecutors say Martinez admitted to forging signatures that caused the college to issue checks to fake vendors. He would then deposit those checks into his account.
