>>Illinois Knocks Off Michigan


(Champaign, IL)  —  Maverick Morgan scored 16 points to lead Illinois to an 85-69 win over Michigan at the State Farm Center.  The Fighting Illini had six players score in double-figures.  Illinois is now 12-and-5 overall and 2-and-2 in the Big Ten.  The Illini are home again on Saturday hosting Maryland.


>>Chargers Reportedly Set To Move To LA


(San Diego, CA)  —  Another NFL team is set to move to Los Angeles.  ESPN’s Adam Schefter the Chargers plan to announce they are bolting San Diego for LA as soon as today.  The team has spent the last 55 years in San Diego.  The Rams left St. Louis for Los Angeles just last year.


>>Broncos Reach Four-Year Deal With Joseph


(Englewood, CO)  —  Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is the new head coach of the Broncos.  Joseph has agreed to a four-year deal and will be introduced at a press conference today.  The 44-year-old Joseph replaces Gary Kubiak, who stepped down for health reasons.


>>Bills To Hire Panthers DC McDermott As Head Coach


(Orchard Park, NY)  —  Sean McDermott is taking over as head coach of the Bills.  The 42-year-old McDermott spent the last six seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Panthers.  The Bills have missed the playoffs 17 straight seasons.


>>Capitals’ Ovechkin Passes 1,000 Career Points


(Washington, DC)  —  Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is the 84th player in NHL history with one-thousand career points.  Ovechkin scored a pair of goals in Washington’s 5-2 win over the Penguins last night.  The 30-year-old is the second-fastest player to reach the milestone in NHL history.



>>Cubs To Visit White House Monday

(Washington, DC)  —  The World Series champion Cubs will visit President Obama at the White House on Monday.  Obama invited the team shortly after winning their first World Series title since 1908.  The Cubs will make the trip before President Obama leaves office on January 20th.


>>Cardinals Report To Spring Training On Valentine’s Day


(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals will celebrate Valentine’s Day in Florida.  Pitchers and catchers report to Jupiter for the start of spring training on Tuesday, February 14th, with the first workout the next day.  The full squad reports three days later.  The Cards begin exhibition play on February 25th.


>>Tim Tebow Not Invited To Spring Training


(Flushing, NY)  —  Tim Tebow isn’t ready for the show just yet.  The former Heisman Trophy winner is not among those who received an invitation to major league spring training from the Mets.  The club could still “borrow” Tebow for a few Grapefruit League games, but he will primarily be in minor league camp.
