(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois State Fair’s new foundation won’t be able to erase the to-do list of projects at the fairgrounds in its first year. But they’ll certainly try. Managers of the newly formed foundation say they hope to launch a major fundraising effort in 2017. Governor Rauner helped create the foundation to do some of the work that the state can’t or hasn’t been able to afford to complete. The foundation says the fairgrounds in Springfield need almost 200-million dollars in repairs or additions.
