In a game heard last night only on Talk 101 FM, the Eisenhower Panthers defeated Harvey Thorton 67-61 in the opening game of the 47th Annual Thanksgiving Tournament at Stephen Decatur Middle School. Eisenhower had three players in double figures for the game led by Stephon Jarrett who had 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Eisenhower is back in action Friday night at 6:00p.m. at Stephen Decatur Middle School.

The 11-and-0 Crimson Tide stayed at number-one after Saturday’s31-3 win over Chattanooga. The Buckeyes, Wolverines and Tigers also won to hold their spots. Washington is fifth and Wisconsin sixth.

(South Bend, IN) — Notre Dame is appealing the ruling by the NCAA that will force the football program to vacate wins from the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The school was also fined and placed on one-year of probation after a former student athletic trainer committed academic misconduct for two football players by completing course-work for them.

(Fort Wayne, IN) — Fort Wayne is celebrating the first major upset of the college basketball season. The Mastodons stunned fifth-ranked Indiana in overtime, 71-68, last night. It’s Fort Wayne’s first win over a ranked opponent in program history.

(Los Angeles, CA) — Nick Young buried a three-pointer with five seconds left to give the Lakers a 111-109 win over the Thunder in LA. The Lakers are off to an 8-and-7 start after winning only 17 games all of last season. Oklahoma City is also 8-and-7.

(Boston, MA) — Paul Stastny scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and the Blues went on to double up the Bruins 4-2 in Boston. Jori Lehtera tallied twice and Robert Bortuzzo also lit the lamp for St. Louis, which notched its fourth straight win. The Blues play the Capitals in D.C. tonight.

(Las Vegas, NV) — The NHL’s expansion team in Las Vegas will be known as the Vegas Golden Knights. The team’s nickname was unveiled last night at the new T-Mobile Arena near The Strip. Las Vegas was awarded an expansion franchise in June. It will be the first major professional sports team in Sin City.

(Lake Forest, IL) — Bears quarterback Jay Cutler may be done for the season. The “Chicago Tribune” reports Cutler has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. The signal-caller is seeking a second opinion on the injury. Chicago is signing quarterback David Fales off of the Ravens’ practice squad. Matt Barkley is likely to start when the 2-and-8 Bears host the Titans Sunday.

(Denver, CO) — Rookie Jamal Murray netted a career-high 24 points off the bench as the Nuggets clipped the Bulls 110-107 in Denver. Jimmy Butler collected 35 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Chicago. Dwyane Wade scored 22 points in defeat. Chicago is 3-and-2 on its six-game road trip, which wraps up Friday in Philadelphia.

(Evanston, IL) — The Illinois football team will close out the season this Saturday on the road at Northwestern. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. The Fighting Illini were shut out 28-0 at home by Iowa last Saturday to slip to 3-and-8 overall and 2-and-6 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats come in at 5-and-6 and 4-and-4.
