Springfield Resident Makes History With Illinois State Police

(Springfield, IL) —  A Springfield resident is the first African-American woman to reach the rank of colonel in the Illinois State Police force.  The “State Journal Register” reports JoAnn Johnson was promoted earlier this month.  The 48-year-old joined the force nearly 30-years ago and works at the ISP headquarters in Springfield.  She is one of four colonels in the state police.
