>>Blues Beat Blackhawks In Season Opener

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Blues are off to a winning start.  Vladimir Tarasenko had two goals and an assist as they beat the Blackhawks 5-2 in the season opener in Chicago.  Paul Stastny’s power-play goal early in the third period snapped a 2-all tie for St. Louis, which got 17 saves in net from goalie Jake Allen.

 

>>Matthews Scores Four Goals In NHL Debut

 

(Ottawa, Ontario)  —  The new NHL season is off to a historic start.  Maple Leafs rookie Auston Matthews scored four times in the team’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Senators.  The 19-year-old is the first player to score four goals in his NHL debut.

 

>>Kaepernick, Niners Agree To Restructured Contract

 

(Santa Clara, CA)  —  Colin Kaepernick is agreeing to a restructured contract with the 49ers.  ESPN reports the new deal wipes out the final four years of the his previous contract, making it a one-year pact with a one-year player option.   Kaepernick will make his first start of the season this Sunday.

 

>>Broncos Clash With Chargers On “TNF”

 

(San Diego, CA)  —  An AFC West rivalry is renewed as the Broncos clash with the Chargers on “Thursday Night Football”.  The 4-and-1 Broncos are coming off their first loss of the year.  The 1-and-4 Chargers have dropped three straight, all of which have been by four points or less.

 

>>Colts Visit Texans Sunday

 

(Houston, TX)  —  The Colts visit the Texans on Sunday in an AFC South showdown.  At 3-and-2, the Texans are first in the division, while the 2-and-3 Colts and Titans sit in second place.  The Jaguars are 1-and-3.  Indianapolis plays three of its next four games on the road before the bye week.

 

>>Dodgers, Nationals Play NLDS G5 Tonight

 

(Washington, DC)  —  It’s come down to a do-or-die Game Five between the Dodgers and Nationals in their NL Division Series.  After splitting the first four games, Washington will host the series decider tonight.  The winner advances to the National League Championship Series against the Cubs.

 

>>Rousey To Fight Nunes In UFC 207

 

(Undated)  —  MMA star Ronda Rousey is returning to the Octagon.  Rousey will take on women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on December 30th in Las Vegas.  It’s Rousey’s first fight since losing the bantamweight belt to Holly Holm last November.

 

>>Illinois Looking To Right Ship Against Rutgers Saturday

 

(Champaign, IL)  —  The Illinois football team is hoping a game at Rutgers will get them back on track.  The Fighting Illini play the Scarlet Knights this Saturday.  Illinois is riding a four-game losing streak since a season-opening win.  Rutgers is coming off a 78-0 loss to fourth-ranked Michigan and is 2-and-4
