The Mt. Zion volleyball team pushed their Apollo Conference record to 8-0 on Tuesday night as they earned a straight sets victory at home against Effingham, 25-16, 25-19. The Braves consistent and dominant play has been there all year and continued once again last night as Mt. Zion made quick work in both sets to lock up at least a share of the conference title. “We played pretty solid. We are working on a quicker offense that goes from middle out and our passing was a little sloppy so we couldn’t run the offense we wanted. The girls are getting fresher and the hitters were contacting the ball with force,” said Mt. Zion head coach Jay McAtee.
Erin Ripple led the charge for the Braves tallying 10 kills and Karlee McAtee added six kills. “With wins over Salem and charleston we can lock up an undefeated Apollo conference. Which was our goal last year until Effingham handed us our only loss one year ago this week,” said McAtee.
Mt. Zion returns to action with a conference match against Salem tomorrow night at home to stay undefeated in Apollo Conference play.
