>Giants Beat Mets Behind Bumgarner, Gillaspie


(Flushing, NY)  —  Madison Bumgarner threw a complete-game, four-hitter as the Giants shut out the New York Mets 3-0 in the NL wild card game.  Conor Gillaspie provided the game’s only offense with a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning for the Giants, who advance to play the Cubs

(Undated)  —  An ALDS doubleheader is on tap today.  Fresh off their dramatic walk-off win, the Blue Jays battle the Rangers in Game One of their best-of-five set.  The Red Sox and Indians also open their series tonight in Cleveland.


>>Cardinals Looking To Lock Up Carlos Martinez


(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals are interested in locking up starting pitcher Carlos Martinez this offseason.  The “Post-Dispatch” reports the two sides are expected to work on a contract extension in the coming months.  The 25-year-old Martinez went 16-and-9 with a 3.04 ERA in 31 starts this year.


>>Cardinals Clash With 49ers


(Santa Clara, CA)  —  Week Five of the NFL season kicks off with the Cardinals clashing with the 49ers on “Thursday Night Football”.  Each team enters tonight’s tilt 1-and-3 on the season.  Arizona will be without starting quarterback Carson Palmer.


>>Hurricane Matthew Affecting College Football Landscape


(Undated)  —  The threat of Hurricane Matthew is causing some college football teams to alter their plans this weekend.  Central Florida is postponing tomorrow’s scheduled game against Tulane.  The storm is expected to hit late Thursday or early Friday and head up the East Coast.


>>Colts Host Bears


(Indianapolis, IN)  —  The Colts hope for a bounce-back win as they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday.  The Colts sit at 1-and-3 after losing to the Jaguars in London.  The Bears earned their first win last week by beating Detroit.  Frank Gore and Donte Moncrief are two of seven Colts who missed practiced yesterday.
