Decatur, IL — Beth Mason Creighton, musician and faculty member at Millikin University, announced today that she will run for a seat on the Decatur, Illinois
Board of Education in the April 2017 election.
Creighton is among the founders of the Dennis School Millikin Partnership, and an active member of the Grow Decatur and City Limitless campaigns.
She is a product of the Decatur Public Schools and a Millikin graduate, a parent of a Dennis Lab School fourth grader, and married to a DPS middle school teacher.
Creighton is running for school board because she believes that successful public schools are key to a strong community, the school board needs to function at the highest possible level, and that school improvement will come from expansion of fine arts programs and successful initiatives like the Dennis Millikin Partnership.
