(Chicago, IL) — Bears quarterback Jay Cutler had to leave last night’s loss early with an apparent hand injury. Cutler exited at the end of the third quarter and did not return. Cutler threw for 157 yards and an interception before the injury. Brian Hoyer was 9-of-12 for 78 yards in Cutler’s absence.

(Foxboro, MA) — The Patriots are expected to have third-stringer Jacoby Brissett under center for Thursday’s home game against Houston. NFL Network reports Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder Sunday against Miami and will not play against the Texans.

(Eden Prairie, MN) — Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is not being ruled out of this Sunday’s game despite a torn meniscus. Head coach Mike Zimmer says a timetable for Peterson’s return is uncertain, but it’s possible he could play Sunday at Carolina. Peterson was hurt in Sunday’s win over Green Bay.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs scored five unanswered runs to rally for a 5-2 win over the Reds. Addison Russell and Willson Contreras hit solo homers in the seventh and Jason Heyward added a two-run blast in the eighth. Jason Hammel went seven innings to improve to 15-and-9. Aroldis Chapman earned his 15th save.

(Kansas City, MO) — Kendrys Morales belted a three-run homer as the Royals hammered the White Sox, 8-3. Carlos Rodon was tagged for eight hits and six runs in four-plus innings to fall to 7-and-10. Jose Abreu hit his 25th home run for Chicago, which dropped the final three in the four-game series.

(Denver, CO) — Randal Grichuk clubbed a two-run homer as the Cardinals knocked off the Rockies, 5-3. Carlos Martinez smacked a two-run double and went five innings to improve to 15-and-8. Kevin Siegrist allowed a Ryan Raburn solo homer in the ninth, but held on for his third save.
