>>Eagles Surge By Bears

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Eagles outscored the Bears 20-7 in the second half to pull away for a 29-14 win on “Monday Night Football”.  Rookie Carson Wentz passed for 190 yards and a touchdown to help the Eagles improve to 2-and-0.  The Bears are 0-and-2.

 

>>Cutler Hurt In Loss

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  Bears quarterback Jay Cutler had to leave last night’s loss early with an apparent hand injury.  Cutler exited at the end of the third quarter and did not return.  Cutler threw for 157 yards and an interception before the injury.  Brian Hoyer was 9-of-12 for 78 yards in Cutler’s absence.

 

>>Report: Garoppolo Out Against Texans

 

(Foxboro, MA)  —  The Patriots are expected to have third-stringer Jacoby Brissett under center for Thursday’s home game against Houston.  NFL Network reports Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder Sunday against Miami and will not play against the Texans.

 

>>Vikings’ Peterson Has Torn Meniscus, Not Ruled Out For Sunday

 

(Eden Prairie, MN)  —  Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is not being ruled out of this Sunday’s game despite a torn meniscus.  Head coach Mike Zimmer says a timetable for Peterson’s return is uncertain, but it’s possible he could play Sunday at Carolina.  Peterson was hurt in Sunday’s win over Green Bay.

 

>>Cubs Strike Late To Sink Reds

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs scored five unanswered runs to rally for a 5-2 win over the Reds.  Addison Russell and Willson Contreras hit solo homers in the seventh and Jason Heyward added a two-run blast in the eighth.  Jason Hammel went seven innings to improve to 15-and-9.  Aroldis Chapman earned his 15th save.

 

>>Royals Rout White Sox Behind Morales, Ventura

 

(Kansas City, MO)  —  Kendrys Morales belted a three-run homer as the Royals hammered the White Sox, 8-3.  Carlos Rodon was tagged for eight hits and six runs in four-plus innings to fall to 7-and-10.  Jose Abreu hit his 25th home run for Chicago, which dropped the final three in the four-game series.

 

>>Cardinals Hold Off Rockies

 

(Denver, CO)  —  Randal Grichuk clubbed a two-run homer as the Cardinals knocked off the Rockies, 5-3.  Carlos Martinez smacked a two-run double and went five innings to improve to 15-and-8.  Kevin Siegrist allowed a Ryan Raburn solo homer in the ninth, but held on for his third save.

 

>>Tebow Has First Workout With Mets’ Instructional League Team

 

(Port St. Lucie, FL)  —  Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is in Florida to begin his minor league baseball career.  He arrived at the Mets’ complex early yesterday and later had his first workout with their instructional league team.  Tebow was given his familiar number-15.
