(Chicago, IL) — Miguel Montero led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a home run to give the Cubs a dramatic 5-4 win over the Brewers at Wrigley Field. Chicago scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game and force extra innings. Addison Russell’s infield single knotted the game at four. Albert Almora Jr. also homered for the Cubs, who clinched the NL Central on Thursday. Aroldis Chapman got credit for the win. Carlos Torres blew the save in the ninth and Blaine Boyer took the loss in the 10th. Orlando Arcia, Ryan Braun and Scooter Gennett all homered for Milwaukee in defeat.

(Kansas City, MO) — Chris Sale struck out ten in a four-run, complete game effort as the White Sox rallied past the Royals, 7-4, at Kauffman Stadium. Sale improved to 16-and-8 with the win. Chicago scored five runs over the final two frames, highlighted by home runs by Carlos Sanchez and Melky Cabrera. Kansas City’s Kelvin Herrera blew the save and took the loss, allowing four runs over one-and-a-third innings. The Royals have dropped five straight to fall to 74-and-73 on the year.

(San Francisco, CA) — The Giants used a six-run third inning to roll the Cardinals, 8-2, in San Francisco. Buster Posey and Brandon Belt each drove in a pair of runs in the frame. Posey added a two-run homer an inning later, and Matt Moore earned the win with five innings of two-run ball. The Giants hold a one-game lead for the top NL Wild Card slot. Yadier Molina drove in both runs for St. Louis. Luke Weaver took the loss, falling to 1-and-3. The Cards are three games behind the Giants in the Wild Card race.

(Phoenix, AZ) — Kenta Maeda picked up his 15th win as the Dodgers held off the Diamondbacks, 3-2, in Phoenix. Maeda tossed five innings of one-run ball to get the win. Kenley Jansen made his 45th save. Justin Turner belted an RBI-triple and scored on a passed ball in the first inning. Former Dodger Zack Greinke took the loss after giving up one earned run over six innings. Arizona’s four-game win streak is over.
