Monday, September 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Big Book Sale FAQs Cost? The sale is free and open to the public! On Sunday, book prices are $1 for hardback books and 50″ for paperback books. Books located in the Special Book area will be sold as marked. During the Membership Sale, Friends members may shop this area for = price. Cant make it to the sale on Sunday?
Come on Monday. All books will be half- price or $5 a bag. Paper grocery bags will be provided. The Friends, normally sell a thousand bags on Monday so there is no reason to stay home. There are plenty of great books left and the prices cannot be beat.
Where and What? Located in downtown Decatur, the Decatur Civic Center Arena (1# Gary K Anderson Plaza, 62523) offers plenty of free parking, as well as an air conditioned environment large enough to house the over tens of thousands of books offered for purchase. Customers are encouraged to bring boxes, bags, and rolling carts. A limited number of grocery carts will be available on a first come first serve basis. Volunteers will be available for anyone needing help moving books to their vehicles.
Genres and Special Items? Every year volunteers sort all of books into categories for the big sale. We have fiction, non- fiction, mystery, romance, cooking, travel, foreign language, science fiction, biography, drama, poetry, childrens, art, large print, textbooks, and special books to choose from. Special is the FOL way of saying rare books, old treasures, books sets and other interesting oddities. Books in this area range in price from several dollars to hundreds of dollars.
On Monday rare books are 1/2 off for everyone!
