(Undated) — Hope Solo’s comments during the Rio Olympics are resulting in a suspension. U.S. Soccer is banning the goalkeeper for six months and terminating her contract. Solo called the Swedish team “cowards” after the U.S. lost to the Swedes in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament.

(San Diego, CA) — The Chargers are withdrawing their contract offer to first-round pick Joey Bosa. The third-overall pick has been holding out over signing bonus money and offset language. The Chargers say they will restructure a deal that reflects Bosa playing less than a full season.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals teed off on Jacob deGrom and Carlos Martinez did the rest in an 8-1 rout of the Mets. Martinez fired eight innings of one-run, four-hit ball to up his record to 12-and-7. Matt Carpenter, Randal Grichuk and Stephen Piscotty all homered in the win.

(San Diego, CA) — Kyle Hendricks pitched six innings of two-run ball as the Cubs beat the Padres 6-3 in San Diego. Hendricks struck out eight along the way to improve to 12-and-7. Aroldis Chapman notched his ninth save. Willson Contreras homered for Chicago, which plays the Dodgers tomorrow in LA.

(Chicago, IL) — The Phillies earned a split in their two-game set with the White Sox with a 5-3 win in Chicago. Dioner Navarro drilled a two-run homer for the Sox. James Shields allowed four runs during his six-inning start to fall to 3-and-9.

(St. Petersburg, FL) — Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is winding down his career in historic fashion. “Big Papi” became the oldest player in MLB history to hit 30 home runs in a season in last night’s loss to the Rays. The 40-year-old Ortiz is retiring at the end of the season.

(Toronto, Ontario) — Angels slugger Albert Pujols is moving up the all-time home run list. Pujols belted the 584th homer of his career in last night’s 8-2 win over the Blue Jays. Pujols passed former teammate Mark McGwire for 10th on the all-time list.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts are gearing up for Saturday’s preseason game against the Eagles. Indianapolis is 1-and-1 in preseason play after suffering a 19-18 loss to the Ravens last week. The Colts wrap up exhibition play against the Bengals a week from today.
