>>Curtain Comes Down On Rio Olympics
(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)  —  The curtain has come down on the 2016 Summer Olympics.  The Closing Ceremony took place last night at Rio’s Maracana Stadium with a celebration of song and dance.  It culminated more than two weeks of international competition between over 200 nations.
>>USA Basketball Golden Again
(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)  —  The U.S. men’s basketball team blew out Serbia 96-66 on the final day to win the gold medal.  Kevin Durant scored 30 points as Team USA claimed its third straight Olympic gold.  The U.S. women’s team topped Spain 101-72 to win its sixth straight gold medal on Saturday.
>>Team USA Snags 121 Medals In Rio
(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)  —  The U.S. blew away the field in the medal race in Rio.  American athletes captured 121 medals in all, eclipsing their 2012 total from London of 103.  Team USA snagged 46 gold, 37 silver and 38 bronze this time.  China was second with 70 medals.
>>Cardinals Crush Phillies
(Philadelphia, PA)  —  Mike Leake pitched seven shutout innings and also singled in two runs as the Cardinals cruised to a 9-0 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia.  Brandon Moss, Stephen Piscotty, Jedd Gyorko and Jeremy Hazelbaker homered as St. Louis took two-of-three in the series.
>>Cardinals Host Mets Tomorrow
(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals are back home tomorrow.  They host the Mets in the first of a three-game series.  Jaime Garcia will pitch for St. Louis, while Jon Niese starts for New York.  First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.  The Cards lead the Marlins by a game-and-a-half for the second NL wild card.
>>Cubs Drop Rubber Match To Rockies
(Denver, CO)  —  Jason Hammel gave up a seven-spot in the first inning as the Cubs lost to the Rockies 11-4 at Coors Field.  Nolan Arenado went 4-for-5 with a pair of three-run homers as Colorado took two-of-three.  Hammel gave up 10 runs in all to fall to 13-and-6.  Addison Russell homered twice for Chicago.
>>Cubs At Padres Tonight
(San Diego, CA)  —  The Cubs continue their road trip tonight with the start of a four-game set in San Diego.  Jon Lester is on the mound tonight for Chicago, while Edwin Jackson pitches for the Padres.  Game time at Petco Park is 9:10 p.m.  The Cubs are 78-and-45, 12 games up on St. Louis in the NL Central.
>>White Sox Top A’s
(Chicago, IL)  —  The White Sox doubled up the A’s, 4-2, in the rubber match of a three-game series.  Jose Abreu homered and Todd Frazier knocked in a pair of runs for Chicago.  Jose Quintana tossed seven innings of two-run ball to improve to 10-and-9.  David Robertson earned his 32nd save.
>>White Sox Take On Phillies Tomorrow
(Chicago, IL)  —  The White Sox begin a two-game Interleague series with the Phillies at The Cell tomorrow night.  Chicago is 59-and-64 on the year.  Anthony Ranaudo gets the ball in the opener for the Sox.  Philadelphia will send out Jake Thompson.
>>Ravens Edge Colts
(Indianapolis, IN)  —  Quarterback Andrew Luck returned to action for Indianapolis but it wasn’t enough as the Ravens edged the Colts, 19-18, at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday in Week Two of the preseason.  Luck was a perfect 8-for-8 on the day, throwing for 71 yards.  Second-year wide receiver Phillip Dorsett led the team with 37 yards on three receptions.  The Colts host the Eagles on Saturday night in Week Three of the preseason.
>>Bears Continue Preseason Play Saturday
(Chicago, IL)  —  The Bears continue preseason play Saturday against the Chiefs at Soldier Field.  Chicago is 0-and-2 in exhibition games after suffering a 23-22 loss to the Patriots last Thursday.  The Bears wrap up the preseason against the Browns on Thursday, September 1st.
>>Harvick Wins Rain-Delayed Race At Bristol
(Bristol, TN)  —  Kevin Harvick took the checkered flag at the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race.  The race was moved to Sunday due to inclement weather at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday.  It was delayed nearly another four hours yesterday.
