>>Cubs Earn Split With White Sox

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs earned a split in the four-game Crosstown Classic with a 3-1 win over the White Sox at Wrigley Field.  Ben Zobrist had two hits, a run and an RBI for the Cubs.  John Lackey tossed six innings of one-run ball to improve to 8-and-7.  Aroldis Chapman got the final four outs for his first save as a Cub.  Melky Cabrera smacked an RBI double for the Sox.  Fresh off his five-day suspension, Chris Sale allowed two runs in six frames to fall to 14-and-4.

>>Diaz, Cardinals Edge Marlins

(Miami, FL)  —  Aledmys [[ ah-led-mees ]] Diaz homered, doubled, and drove in three runs to help push the Cardinals past the Marlins, 5-4, at Marlins Park.  Matt Holliday added a home run for St. Louis, which won its second straight game.  Michael Wacha [[ WAHK-ah ]] picked up the win with six innings of four-hit ball.  Seung Hwan [[ sewn-whan ]] Oh locked down the ninth inning to earn his seventh save of the season.

>>Walker Has One-Shot Lead After First Round Of PGA Championship

(Springfield, NJ)  —  Jimmy Walker will take a one-shot lead into day two of the PGA Championship.  He carded a five-under 65 during Thursday’s first round.  Emiliano Grillo [[ GREE-oh ]], Ross Fisher and Martin Kaymer [[ KY-mur ]] are all one shot back in second at minus-four.

>>Jets’ Fitzgerald Arrives At Camp

(Florham Park, NJ)  —  Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is arriving at training camp on time despite an elongated contract dispute.  Fitzpatrick signed a two-year contract on Wednesday night and practiced yesterday.  Head coach Todd Bowles says “Fitz” is the clear starter.

>>CFP Committee Adjusts Dates For Future Semifinals

(Undated)  —  The College Football Playoff executive committee is changing the dates of future semifinals to make sure they fall on a Saturday or a holiday.  Dates have been changed for the semifinals to be played on a Saturday in 2018 and 2019, as well as 2024 and 2025.

>>Arsenal Sinks MLS All-Stars

(San Jose, CA)  —  English Premier League power Arsenal scored in the closing minutes of regular time to edge the MLS All-Stars, 2-1.  The Gunners struck in the 87th minute to end MLS’ two-match win streak in the exhibition event.

>>SCS Heads To Pocono

(Long Pond, PA)  —  The Sprint Cup Series heads to Pocono Raceway for the Pennsylvania 400.  Qualifying takes place at 4:15 today, with the 160-lap, 400-mile race to follow at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.  Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag at last year’s race.
