>>Dodgers’ Kershaw Out Indefinitely

 

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is sidelined indefinitely.  Kershaw hasn’t pitched since June 26 due to a lower back injury and has been shut down after experiencing a setback during his rehab.  The three-time Cy Young winner is 11-and-2 with a 1.79 ERA this season.

 

>>Mets Hold Off Cubs

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  Rene Rivera’s RBI single in the top of the ninth gave the Mets a 2-1 win over the Cubs.  Jeurys Familia escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the ninth to earn his 49th straight regular-season save.

 

>>Cardinals, Padres Rained Out

 

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals and Padres will play a day-night doubleheader after last night’s game at Busch Stadium was postponed.  It was called with storms and lightning in the area.  Carlos Martinez pitches the opener for St. Louis, while Jaime Garcia goes in the nightcap.

 

>>White Sox Maul Mariners To End Skid

 

(Seattle, WA)  —  The White Sox stopped a five-game losing streak with a 6-1 win over the Mariners.  Brett Lawrie, Melky Cabrera and Todd Frazier each went deep for Chicago.  Jose Quintana struck out seven over six innings of one-run ball to improve to 8-and-8.

 

>>UFC Notified Of Second Failed Lesnar Test

 

(Undated)  —  The United States Anti-Doping Agency says Brock Lesnar failed a drug test the night of his win over Mark Hunt at UFC 200.  ESPN reports Lesnar was flagged for the same anti-estrogen blocker that kept Jon Jones off the fight card.

 

>>Colts Sign TE Igwenagu, Release QB Woodrum

 

(Indianapolis, IN)  —  The Colts made a few roster moves Tuesday, signing tight end Emil Igwenagu and releasing quarterback Josh Woodrum.  Igwenagu has spent time In Philadelphia and Detroit since coming into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012.  He’s played in three regular season games and was cut by the Lions at the end of preseason.  The Colts are now left with three quarterbacks on the roster after waiving Woodrum.

 

>>Manziel Apologizes To Fans, Vows To Comeback

 

(Undated)  —  Johnny Manziel is apologizing to his fans and vowing to return to football.  The embattled former first-round pick is facing a misdemeanor assault charge for an alleged incident with his former girlfriend.  The NFL also reportedly suspended him four games for violating the league’s drug policy.

 

>>Tiger Will Not Return This Season

 

(Springfield, NJ)  —  Tiger Woods will not be returning to the PGA Tour this season.  Woods has withdrawn from the final major of the year, the PGA Championship.  Tiger hasn’t played in a PGA Tour event since August 2015.
