Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan canceled another session of the Illinois House that was scheduled for yesterday. Madigan said that the house would be in continuous session and would return to Springfield each Wednesday the month June, when lawmakers could not enact a budget by the end of May, but he has now canceled three straight sessions this month. Governor Bruce Rauner would like to avoid calling lawmakers in a special session, but needs to look at the options as the state heads towards a new fiscal year without a budget. Madigan made a brief statement, wanting to continue giving working groups time to come up with a compromise on a budget plan and part’s of Rauner’s pro-business agenda. The new fiscal year in just nine days away and starts on July 1.
