(St. Louis, MO) — David Backes and Alexander Steen scored two goals apiece as the Blues smoked the Stars, 6-1, in Game Three of their semifinal series. Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists to help St. Louis take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven West set. Brian Elliott made 25 saves. The Blues will host Game Four tomorrow night.

(St. Louis, MO) — Aaron Nola and two relievers combined on a three-hitter as the Phillies blanked the Cardinals 1-0 in the second of four games at Busch Stadium. Michael Wacha fanned eight over eight innings of one-run ball but fell to 2-and-2 with the tough-luck loss. The Cards have dropped five of six.
