(St. Louis, MO) — Adam Wainwright clubbed a three-run homer as the Cardinals crushed the Phillies, 10-3, in the opener of a four-game set at Busch Stadium. Wainwright allowed three runs over six innings on the mound as he moved to 2-and-3. Matt Adams, Aledmys Diaz, Kolten Wong and Randal Grichuk also went deep for the Redbirds, who snapped a four-game skid.

(Boston, MA) — Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval is set to go under the knife. The team says Sandoval will have surgery on his left shoulder in the next few days. ESPN reports he’s expected to miss the rest of the season. Sandoval is in the second year of a five-year, 95-million-dollar deal.
