The Blackhawks scored four power-play goals in a 7-2 rout of the Maple Leafs. Patrick Kane had a goal and three assists to help Chicago stop a three-game losing streak. Andrew Shaw added a goal and two assists. Scott Darling made 35 saves. The ‘Hawks visit the Rangers tomorrow.
Heat forward Chris Bosh is reportedly in another battle with blood clots. Yahoo! Sports reports Bosh will meet with doctors tomorrow to determine the severity of the issue. Bosh missed the second half of last season due to blood clots in his lungs.
All five starters scored in double figures as second-ranked Kansas steamrolled Oklahoma State, 94-67. Wayne Selden Jr. led the charge with 18 points for the Jayhawks, who now have a half-game lead on West Virginia for first place in the Big Ten.
The NBA All-Star Game may be costing Sabres forward Evander Kane some playing time. The team has suspended Kane for sleeping in and missing practice Monday after he attended the event Sunday night in Toronto. He’ll miss tonight’s game against Ottawa.
The Cardinals open spring training this week. Pitchers and catchers are due to report to Jupiter, Florida tomorrow with the first official workout Thursday. The first full-squad workout is February 23rd. Exhibition play begins March 2nd against Florida Atlantic.
Both the Cubs and White Sox will open spring training this week. Pitchers and catchers for both clubs will report to their respective camps in Arizona on Friday. The White Sox will hold the first workout the same day. The Cubs will be on the field for the first time Saturday.
One of the Mets’ young aces is open to a long-term deal with the team. Matt Harvey tells ESPN he hasn’t ruled out an extension with the Mets. The 26-year-old isn’t eligible for free agency until after the 2018 season.
Aaron Hernandez has settled a lawsuit with a friend that says the former Patriot tight end shot him in the face. The “Boston Globe” reports terms of the settlement were not disclosed. Hernandez is serving a life sentence for the killing of Odin Lloyd in 2013.
Illinois squares off with Rutgers tonight in Champaign. The Illini are coming off Saturday’s 58-56 road loss to Northwestern. Illinois has dropped two straight to enter tonight’s tilt 3-and-9 in Big Ten play and 11-and-14 overall.
