It appears the Giants have found their next head coach. Multiple sources says New York will promote offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo to the position. The 38-year-old McAdoo has never previously served as a head coach.
Hue Jackson is the new head coach of the Browns. The 50-year-old Jackson spent the last two years as the offensive coordinator for the Bengals. He went 8-and-8 in his only season as head coach of the Raiders in 2011.
Mayor Slay isn’t holding back his feelings towards the NFL. A day after the Rams were approved to relocate to Los Angeles, Slay slammed the league saying he’s done with the NFL and has no interest in pursuing another team after their stadium plan failed to sway league owners.
Bulls center Joakim Noah is reportedly unhappy with the way the season has unfolded. The “Chicago Sun-Times” reports Noah is still upset over losing his starting job and isn’t the “biggest fan” of head coach Fred Hoiberg. Noah returned from a nine-game absence Tuesday night.
The Nuggets withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally and held on for a 112-110 win over the Warriors. Steph Curry scored 38 points for Golden State, which dropped to 36-and-3 on the season. Draymond Green was given the night off.
Another top-10 team in college basketball has been upset. Clemson used a second-half rally to capture a 68-63 win over sixth-ranked Duke. Duke’s loss came a night after top-ranked Kansas and third-ranked Maryland went down.
The owners of the Cubs have bought three more rooftop businesses along West Waveland Avenue across from Wrigley Field. The Rickets family now owns nine of the 16 rooftop establishments. Purchase prices were not disclosed.
A new voice will be behind the microphone for most White Sox home games this year. The team has hired Jason Benetti to do play-by-play. Ken Harrelson is taking a reduced role in order to cut back on his commute from South Bend. Harrelson is entering his 32nd season in the booth.
Four Cardinals who have filed for arbitration will exchange salary figures with the club tomorrow. Closer Trevor Rosenthal, first basemen Matt Adams and Brandon Moss and reliever Seth Maness all filed this week. Barring a deal beforehand, hearings will be heard in February.
Former NFL running back Lawrence Phillips is dead. Officials at Kern Valley State Prison are investigating his apparent suicide. The 40-year-old Phillips had been in a single cell since April of 2013 after he was suspected of killing his cellmate.
