The Carolina Panthers kept their perfect record intact with a 27-16 win over the Eagles on “Sunday Night Football”. Cam Newton threw three interceptions, but had a touchdown through the air and on the ground for Carolina, which improved to 6-and-0.
In a game heard on Talk 101FM, Rookie Todd Gurley rushed for 128 yards and his first two NFL touchdowns to lead the St Louis Rams to a 24-6 win over the Browns at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams were outgained by Cleveland, but recovered four fumbles to improve to 3-and-3. They host the 49ers this Sunday.
The New England Patriots scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 30-23 win over the Jets. Tom Brady thew for 355 yards and two touchdowns for New England, which ran its record to 6-and-0. The Jets dropped to 4-and-2.
The New York Giants took over sole possession of first place in the NFC East with a 27-20 win over the Cowboys. Dwayne Harris returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help New York beat his former team. Dallas has dropped four straight.
Andrew Luck threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns but couldn’t overcome two interceptions as the Colts fell to the Saints, 27-21, at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Colts rallied from a 27-0 deficit to cut the lead to six, but the Saints recovered a late onside kick to seal the win. Mark Ingram rushed for 143 yards and a score for New Orleans. The Colts are at the Panthers on “Monday Night Football” during Week Eight. Indy is 3-and-4.
Joey Logano completed a three-race sweep of the “Contender” round of NASCAR’s playoffs by winning the CampingWorld.com 500 on Sunday. Logano headlines the field of eight for the “Eliminator” round, which includes Carl Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch. Dale Earnhardt Jr, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth have all been eliminated from championship contention.
