The Astros are moving on to the ALDS. Houston captured a 3-0 win over the Yankees in the AL Wild Card game last night in New York. The Astros will face the defending American League champion Kansas City Royals in the ALDS, which will get underway tomorrow.
It’s win or go home tonight as the Cubs clash with the Pirates in the NL Wild Card game in Pittsburgh. The winner will advance to play the Cardinals in the NLDS starting Friday in St. Louis. Chicago ace Jake Arrieta will oppose Pittsburgh’s Gerrit Cole at 7:00 Central.
Mets pitcher Matt Harvey is apologizing for missing Tuesday’s mandatory team workout at Citi Field. He arrived late after getting stuck in New York City traffic. Harvey said he simply “screwed up.” He is due to pitch Game Three of the NLDS against the Dodgers Monday.
New York’s attorney general is putting the fantasy sports companies DraftKings and FanDuel under the microscope. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is looking into the companies after reports that a DraftKings employee may have used inside information to win 350-thousand-dollars from FanDuel.
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck says he’s “preparing to start and to play” in tomorrow night’s game against the Texans. Luck was a limited participant in practice yesterday after missing Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. Luck says he’s gotten better every day.
The Bears will be without starting center Will Montgomery for the rest of the year. Montgomery was placed on season-ending injured reserve yesterday after suffering a broken left fibula on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Bears promoted offensive lineman Nick Becton from the practice squad, signed safety Sherrod Martin, and waived linebacker John Timu and punter Spencer Lanning.
The curtain raises on the 2015-16 NHL regular season with four games tonight. The Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks open at home and will raise their championship banner before tonight’s game against the Rangers.
