Le’Veon Bell scored a touchdown in his first game back from suspension and the Steelers held off the Rams 12-6 in St. Louis. Nick Foles was picked off near midfield with 3:02 to play and the Rams down three. They’re now 1-and-2. The Rams play at Arizona this Sunday.
The Steelers will have to go at least a month without star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger [[ ROTH-lis-ber-ger ]] under center. Roethlisberger suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday’s win over the Rams and ESPN reports he will be sidelined for four-to-six weeks.
Jalston Fowler was stopped on a two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute left giving the Colts a 35-33 win over the Titans in Nashville. Andrew Luck rallied Indianapolis for three fourth quarter touchdowns, including TD passes to Phillip Dorsett and Donte Moncrief. Luck finished 18-of-30 for 260 yards, but he did throw another two interceptions. Frank Gore ran for 86 yards and two scores for the Colts, who got their first win of the season.
The Chicago Bears are still winless after suffering a 26-0 loss to the Seahawks in Seattle. Jimmy Clausen started in place of the injured Jay Cutler and was just 9-of-17 for 63 yards. Matt Forte rushed for 74 yards for the 0-and-3 Bears, who will host the Raiders on Sunday.
Tom Brady threw his 400th career touchdown pass in a 51-17 rout of the Jaguars. Brady passed for 358 yards and two touchdowns as the Pats improved to 3-and-0. Rob Gronkowski had 101 receiving yards in the victory.
A pair of Nationals stars came to blows during Sunday’s 12-5 loss to the Phillies. Closer Jonathan Papelbon and star outfielder Bryce Harper were involved in a fight in the dugout. Papelbon grabbed Harper by the throat and pushed him against a wall before teammates intervened.
Jake Arrieta took a perfect game into the seventh inning as the Cubs blanked the Pirates, 4-0, at Wrigley Field. Arrieta allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings for his 21st win. Arrieta also hit a solo homer to help Chicago avoid a three-game sweep.
Jason Rogers hit a pinch-hit grand slam in a seven-run ninth inning as the Brewers beat the Cardinals 8-4 at Busch Stadium. Khris Davis homered twice for Milwaukee. Trevor Rosenthal took the loss. Matt Carpenter and Stephen Piscotty hit back-to-back homers in the seventh for St. Louis.
The White Sox suffered a 6-1 loss to the Yankees in the finale of a four-game set in New York. Avisail Garcia hit a solo homer for Chicago, which dropped three of four in the series. Erik Johnson took the loss.
Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag at the Sylvania 300 on Sunday. Kenseth led 27 of the 300 laps at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards rounded out the top-five. Kenseth is six points ahead of Hamlin in the Chase standings.
A three-time NASCAR champion is reportedly set to step away from the track. Multiple reports say Tony Stewart plans on retiring after the 2016 season. The 45-year-old Stewart has 48 career victories.
